Coal briquettes—compressed products made from coal powder (or coal fines) and binders (e.g., starch, clay, asphalt)—are widely used in industrial heating, domestic cooking, and power generation due to their high combustion efficiency and low pollutant emissions. Drying is a critical post-processing step for coal briquettes: excess moisture (typically 15%-30% after molding) reduces calorific value, causes combustion instability, and even leads to briquette cracking during storage/transport. Traditional drying methods (e.g., hot air drying, flue gas drying) suffer from low efficiency and uneven moisture removal, while microwave drying has emerged as a superior alternative, offering rapid, uniform, and energy-efficient processing.
